Orientation

Reasonable efforts have been made for this website to be neutral regarding research, participation in research, and, above all, to be as helpful as possible. This website is an entry level orientation to the issues and does not represent itself to be an exhaustive discourse on the strengths and weaknesses of research protections.

Mission

The GRS^SM website (www.getresearchsmart.org) is offered as a free service to the public. GRS offers a Code of Reasonable Expectations (“GRS Code”), information, self-help tools, and references to other resources primarily for use by those who may but do not yet participate in research.

Founder

Clifford C. Scharke, D.M.D., M.P.H., founder and Managing Member of GetResearchSmart LLC, includes amongst his professional background twenty years of combined service in the former Office for Protection from Research Risks (OPRR) of the National Institutes of Health and its successor, the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) of the Department of Health and Human Services.
