GRSSM Endorsement Policy
(See Terms of Use)
Preamble
All offers to endorse GRS, accepted or not, are gratefully received and truly appreciated.
Entities most likely to receive acceptance by GRS of their offers to endorse the GRS program and website are those, public or private, that, in the opinion of GRS, have both (1) suitable professional purpose, background, experience, and/or other positive influence upon standards for or practices of persons considering participation in human research and (2) do not jeopardize the independence and objectivity of GRS (see Conditions).
Conditions
GRS will post an interactive logo (if any), name, categorical descriptor, and/or URL of each entity whose endorsement of the GRS program and website is found suitable and accepted. Ultimate acceptance and posting is subject to the conditions and standards set forth below in this policy, and as determined by GRS in its sole discretion. The purpose served by the resultant linkage to such entities is primarily for the convenience of those who are interested to know more about these endorsing organizations.
Please note that GRS policy regarding acceptance of suitable endorsements generally includes and conforms to the following understandings and standards:
- Although all offers are valued, GRS reserves the right to selectively accept as suitable, or not, endorsement from those entities that choose to offer endorsement.
- Entities agree in advance to accept any decision by GRS not to accept an offer to endorse. Decisions include priority attention to the aim of public service and the need for GRS to preserve its own related values of independence and objectivity.
- Standards for acceptance by GRS include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Entities primarily without the potential for direct gain (e.g., do not recruit, involve, and/or directly rely upon human subject participation) are generally eligible for acceptance, with or without any accompanying sponsorship (e.g., financial support) to GRS, such as:
- Professional associations or agencies, public or private, that directly or indirectly develop, train, or promote best practices for human protections (e.g., a private association or public agency).
- Professional entities, public or private, engaged in the oversight or credentialing of best practices for human protections (e.g., an independent institutional review board or accrediting body).
- Entities primarily with the potential for direct gain (e.g., do recruit, involve, and/or ultimately rely upon human subject participation) are generally eligible for acceptance, but only without any accompanying sponsorship (e.g., financial support) to GRS, such as:
- Research sites (e.g., an accruing university or medical center).
- Research institutions (e.g., research companies or agent entities).
- Entities primarily without the potential for direct gain (e.g., do not recruit, involve, and/or ultimately rely upon human subject participation but, by and large, could reasonably be considered, by the general population, a credible and earnest entity that acts, advises, and/or refers in the public interest) are generally eligible for acceptance, with or without any accompanying sponsorship (e.g., financial support) to GRS, such as:
- Public/non-profit entities (e.g., a disease advocacy group).
- Private institutions (e.g., newspaper or consumer organization).
- Suitable background of entities and circumstances of offers to endorse GRS are considered as to acceptability. However, acceptance and posting of endorsements does not in any way constitute GRS endorsement of the endorsing entities.
GRS requires at least the following information from entities offering to endorse and, for those selected as acceptable, will post such in the interests of transparency and disclosure:
- Logo (if any)
- Name of entity
- Nature of entity (e.g., association)
- URL of entity

- None
- Link (i.e., link to GRS website)
