This website's principal aims are to (1) impress upon prospective subjects (that's all of us) the virtues of alertness and critical thinking when it comes to participation in research, and (2) provide information and tools with which to participate in your own protection.

A willingness to assume the best, rely solely on trust, and passively abdicate to others the responsibility to decide about what's best for you could be costly. Looking out for yourself is not that hard after a quick review of how to proceed. This website gives you (1) a helping hand to understand the issues, (2) an appreciation of the need to become educated and to stay alert, (3) a review of what to look for, (4) an encouragement to speak up, and (5) a basis for you to make decisions only after knowing enough to do so with confidence.
